Amani Bin Shikhan

Amani Bin Shikhan is a music- and culture-focused writer (The FADER, Noisey, Red Bull, et cetera), researcher (Netflix's Hip-Hop Evolution), and filmmaker (where now?). In all of her roles, Bin Shikhan meditates on what creative expression reveals and conceals about history, geography, and connectivity within and across her home of Toronto, as well as (but not limited to) other pockets of the broader Black diaspora. In other words: she's out here trying her best.

Producer

Jessica Ford

Jessica is an award-winning documentary producer and director who has worked with VICE, Quibi and CBC Music. Over her decade in the business, she spent a memorable night backstage with Lizzo while the singer did group stretches and tequila shots, documented the Indigenous hip-hop scene in Canada across three provinces and got financial advice from Rae Sremmurd– “Invest in CBD dog treats.”  This all shaped her love of telling stories below the surface of art and culture.
